Diamond Williams

Board Member

Dr. Diamond D. Williams, DrPH, MPH is the inaugural Associate Dean for Health Equity and Community Engagement at UW-Madison School of Nursing, the Chief Operating Officer of Focused Interruption, Inc., and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Public Health program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A visionary public health leader, she is known for transforming bold ideas into action and advancing equity in both practice and engagement.

Dr. Williams has advised the White House during the Biden-Harris Administration on community engagement strategies, managed more than a quarter of a billion dollars in grants and budgets, and led Wisconsin’s largest COVID-19 health equity initiative—investing $30.8 million into over 185 community partners statewide. Her leadership bridged mistrust, built cross-sector partnerships, and ensured marginalized voices were centered in pandemic response efforts. In 2023, she was named Doctor of the Year by colleagues and community members.

A proud graduate of Howard University, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Walden University, Dr. Williams is rooted in traditions of Black excellence. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Kappa Psi Omega Chapter, the Madison Metropolitan (WI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the Black Maternal and Child Health Alliance of Dane County, and serves as Co-Chair of the Wisconsin Public Health Association’s Maternal and Child Health Section.

Beyond her professional and community leadership, she is wife to Richard Williams and mother to Reign D. Williams. She describes herself as an avid learner, community connector, and people champion—bringing an infectious energy that embodies Black Girl Magic and fuels her mission to ensure every community is seen, valued, and cared for.
