Our Programming
Black Girl Magic Educational Services provides free and low-cost programs for Black girls in 4th grade and above. We intend for each of these programs to foster cultural pride, leadership skills, self-confidence, community-building, mentoring opportunities, and exposure to new activities and interests for our girls and their participating family members.
Held annually in June, girls learn how to bring awareness to their thoughts, feelings, and body while participating in journaling, art, and movement sessions Black women-led. After learning about mindfulness in the morning, the girls attend field trips planned by the BGMES Youth Leadership Board in the afternoon.

Black Girl Magic Saturdays
Hosted one Saturday each month during the school year (September-April), Black Girl Magic Saturdays brings our programming to the Madison-area community with culturally-themed activities for Black girls in 4th-10th grades.
The girls participate in a variety of activities from dance, to cooking, to learning about keeping their bodies and minds healthy, STEM activities, and more!
This event is a celebration of Black girl joy, full of positive self-images, community building, academic sessions, and fun! The conference includes engaging breakout sessions on various topics from coding to medicine to identity to analyzing stereotypes in the media. The day consists of inspiring guest speakers and activities such as a DJ, photo booth, and fitness classes. The girls leave with a sense of pride in their culture, confidence in their abilities, tools to use their voice to create change, and a strong sense of sisterhood.
